This pendant is a scene of a Frog making its way through the leaves.  The piece consists of an Absolute Black Jade base, the Frog carved in 22K Yellow Gold with Ruby Eyes, the Jade Ceiba Leaves and it is all framed in a bezel of flowers carved in 14K Yellow Gold.

Inspired on the Mayan Gods of Infra World.

Hand carved in a composition of different materials:

White Feathers carved in Mother of Pearl and represent Purity.

The Silver and Skull represent Death.

The Plug Earrings carved in gem quality Green Jade from Guatemala, this jade color mean Power and Status.

The gem quality Blue Jade Mask represent an enlightened being, someone ethereal.

The Blue Jadeite was exclusively used for carvings and funerary offerings for the Mayan Royalty and other important personalities with the purpose to preserve life after death.

XIB´ALB´A

The Mayan Universe can be explained in three levels or cosmic areas ruled by Gods that are not always well defined, different energies manifest on each of these levels:

1. HEAVEN Level was divide on 13 layers.

2. EARTH Level was the middle world, the material or fleshly world.

3. INFRA WORLD Level, XIB´ALB´A, the afterlife, hereafter, formed of 9 layers.

Despite the clear division, the three worlds are closely connected and even some times intermingled. We could tell they form a “continuum”, with no real borders since all three are part of the Great Cosmic Tree of Life that raises its crown to Heaven and grows the roots to the deepest of the Infra World. Through this “Tree of Life” it is possible to travel or transit from one region to the other, it is the path that communicate and intertwine everything that exists.

The underworld had a sense of depth, not in the meaning of space.

The Access to this region of darkness and shadows had place after death or even in life through special rituals.

Cycle of Life transited from Earth to Infra World and from Infra World to Heaven.

Same path had to be follow by humans who aspired superior conscious levels during human existence: He first had to interiorize down to its own Infra World and auto discover himself though different challenges in life in order to ascend to his own Heaven in Life.

I forged this flower by hand starting from a Pure Silver coin, soon I will make a Blog with the process of making this piece, do not miss it!

I carved the Frog in 14K Gold, the frog’s eyes are Sapphires and the pistils in 22K Gold with Rubies.

A beautiful scene for a very special gift! It was a Wedding Anniversary gift and each Ruby symbolizes 10 years of Marriage, the Little Frog symbolizes good fortune, the Sapphires the wisdom to move forward and the Flower is her favorite flower.

I really enjoyed carving this Alligator Snapping Turtle, with all its details,  and with the Blue Jade stone so suitable for its transparencies, taking advantage of the oxidation of the stone so that the oranges remained on the tail, giving it a touch of beauty and realism. 2020

Jaguar Warrior is a unique piece, hand carved, that I designed inspired by the Mayan Culture. It is an exquisite carving in Blue Jade in where the finishes are fundamental, the high polish, matte and satin enhance the realism of the face, plumage and jaguar. The textures add warmth and realism to the carving. It is a Master Piece that I created to compete in China, although it was another of my pieces that was awarded, this one is of special beauty.
