Netsuke

US $3,000.00

This is finely carved in Jade Netsuke shows a bamboo scene where a snake is chasing a frog and leaves an unknown outcome. Who’s going to win? Luck or Wisdom?

Netsukes, small carvings of Japanese origin, are pendants that were fastened to the wide sashes or belts of traditional clothing to be able to tie braided bags, fabric or leather, to carry the small things or everyday objects, from tobacco to money. They are mainly carved in Wood and Ivory.

I wanted to carve a Netsuke in Jade as a personal challenge, it took me years to finish it and the main limitation were the tools to carve such a complex and delicate piece.
