CARVING QUARTZ IS FASCINATING!

I start by selecting my material, choosing the cleanest quartz without fractures, stones that are already considered gem quality is what I look for my work. Quartz, in particular, has a very interesting energy because, unlike other stones that have their own energy, quartz amplifies energy and is done as a feedback of what you are doing... if you are working with passion, focus, etc. quartz amplifies these emotions and returns it to you and then you get more into the piece. Quartz has a medium hardness, is not as hard as Jade, but it also requires some touch and precision so that it does not break or chip. Quartz it is a fairly hard material to carve but it has its fragility when working it so it requires a steady and precise hand, as well as good and well calibrated tools so that they do not vibrate and will not chip your piece. Fascination about carving Quartz is being able to play with the transparencies that this material allows, to be able to see through, to satin, to mat and to play with the nuances of the light; when it absorbs or retains light, or when they are optical discs or when it is faceted. It is a very noble material and versatile, unfortunately the size is limited and does not allow to make large carvings. Hey, please share your comments and doubts!
